Cornish Rex Kittens 2007 litter.....

TOTO, loved his mum so much

The Cornish Rex cat was first noticed in Cornwall, England, hence the name and the first Cornish Rex kitten was born in 1950 in a barn who's mother was a domestic farm cat moggie called Serena and the father was unknown, but one things for sure, he had to be carrying a Rex and a dilute gene.

Kallibunker was born on the 21st July 1950, a cream Cornish Rex boy with a curly wavy coat and an unusual bodily structure known as a foreign type cat with a longer face and bigger ears and longer legs, not typical of an English moggie. Kallibunker was then bred with his mother and they produced three kittens of which two died and that left one blue and white boy called Poldhu who then sired many kittens until he had an operation and could not sire anymore! Kallibunker and Serena were put to sleep as the lady who owned them could not sell their kittens! The lady had however sent two kittens to America where the breed was developed further and was saved from being extinct, the Cornish Rex was developed and bred with Siamese and Russian Blues and also Burmese and the breed started to survive. They were first recognized by cat clubs in 1964. And so the story goes on…

I fell in love with the breed in 1998 when I came across a litter for sale in Surrey… that's when my life changed, and I got my first Cornish Rex TOTO, he was a beautiful black smoke and white boy with big big ears, long legs and a beauty spot on his nose! He was not only so handsome looking and perfect but he had the most affectionate personality and was so needy all the time like a new born baby that needs its mum 24/7. I fell hook line and sinker for that boy and for the 6 years I was graced with his presence in my life I was never so happier. TOTO died of a rare cancer on 11/10/04. I am lost without him in my life, he was everything I lived for but he was suffering crying with pain and he now is at peace. No cat could have had a happier and more spoilt 6 years of life! He was my baby!

One year after I bought TOTO, I wanted another Cornish Rex and so I came across a cream girl which I named Felina, she too was very affectionate and naughty, she died at 6 months old from F.I.P. (feline infectious peritonitis), she had carried it from birth from her mother or father and there is no cure for it known in the UK as yet. TOTO was devastated, as so was I as it was his little friend, Cornish like to stick together! I then bought a cousin of TOTO's called Lilo, he was a dark black and white boy but was very jealous of TOTO and used to beat him up so I had to re-home him to a friend.

After TOTO's death, I didn't think I could ever face having another cat let alone finding another Cornish Rex but God works in mysterious ways and I now have a black Cornish Rex boy called Monkey who is adorable. He is very much like the breed I know and love, naughty, affectionate over the top, needy, cries, loves food and jumps 6ft in the air after toys. They really are an amazing breed and you have to have one to understand that, there's no other breed like it as I've tried most of the breeds... I do really like the American type Cornish Rex though, they are so startling looking with their mad eyes and needy cheeky looks. I have another 3 Cornish rex since Monkey and I also now breed Cornish that I have known and loved for many years. I will occasionally have kittens available to permanent loving indoor homes.

The thing I must not forget to mention is that Cornish Rex do not have guard hairs and so if you are allergic to cats, you won't be to Cornish Rex! They don't shed any hair and the most amazing thing is their COAT, it feels like mink, velvet, think of the softest luxurious mink you can, well that's what they feel like. I go to sleep by stroking my Rex, it's so soothing and they purr for England!!!
